Your privacy matters. It is Adam Foster's policy to respect your privacy regarding any information collected across adm.io and the other pages operated here. This site is a personal portfolio — there are no user accounts, no sign-up, and nothing is sold. This notice explains what is collected, why, how long it is kept, and the choices you have.
Information collected automatically (analytics)
adm.io uses its own first-party analytics — no third-party advertising or cross-site tracking networks. When you visit a page, the following is recorded to understand how the site is used and improve it:
- The pages you visit, the referring link, and the time and duration of the visit.
- Your device type, browser and operating system (derived from your browser's user-agent string).
- An approximate location — country, region and city — derived from your IP address by the hosting network. The IP address itself is not stored.
- Screen and window size, browser language, and whether your device prefers light or dark mode.
- Anonymous interaction signals — clicks and mouse-movement patterns (heatmaps) — used to see which parts of a page draw attention.
This activity is associated with a random, first-party identifier generated by your browser, not with your name or any account. It is not used to identify you personally.
The AI assistant
Some pages offer an AI assistant that answers questions about Adam. When you send it a message, the text you type and the assistant's reply may be stored, associated with the same anonymous visitor identifier, so conversations can be reviewed to improve the assistant. To generate replies, your message is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) for processing. Please don't enter sensitive personal information into the assistant.
Cookies and local storage
adm.io does not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. It stores a small amount of data in your browser's local storage — a random visitor/session identifier and your light/dark theme preference. These stay on your device and are first-party only. You can clear them at any time through your browser settings.
Who processes your data
The site relies on a small number of reputable service providers to operate:
- Vercel — website hosting and content delivery.
- Neon — the PostgreSQL database where analytics and assistant conversations are stored.
- OpenAI — generates the AI assistant's responses from the messages you send it.
How long it is kept
Information is retained only as long as useful, then automatically deleted:
- Mouse-movement / heatmap data — 30 days.
- Click data — 90 days.
- Page-visit records and AI assistant conversations — 12 months.
How your information is protected
What is stored is protected within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss, theft, and unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. Data is held in managed, access-controlled services.
Sharing
Personally identifying information is not shared publicly or with third parties, except as required by law or as needed for the service providers above to operate the site.
Your rights
Consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, you may ask what information is held about you and request that it be deleted. Because data here is tied to an anonymous browser identifier rather than your name, please include enough detail (such as approximate dates) to help locate it. Email hello@adm.io.
